Clinics compared: Moodon Plastic Surgery (무드온성형외과) (Sinsa Station Exit 3), Private Plastic Surgery (프라이빗성형외과) (Sinsa Station Exits 2 and 3), Hyundai Mihak Plastic Surgery (현대미학성형외과) (Sinsa Station Exit 1)

Also compared: VVLY Plastic Surgery (쁠리성형외과) (Nonhyeon Station Exit 8)

We compared the number of board-certified plastic surgeons registered with the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA, 건강보험심사평가원), cone-beam CT registration, and each clinic's official information on revision rhinoplasty, checked on November 2 and 3, 2026.

Several plastic surgery clinics that perform revision rhinoplasty line Gangnam-daero between Sinsa Station and Nonhyeon Station. From the clinics within walking distance of the two stations, we picked 3 that have at least 2 board-certified plastic surgeons and 1 cone-beam CT registered with HIRA and that publish revision rhinoplasty information on their official websites. VVLY Plastic Surgery, on the same stretch, has 1 board-certified plastic surgeon, so we compared it separately. The criteria were the number of specialists, CT equipment, and how clearly each clinic describes the technique, anesthesia and recovery for each type of revision rhinoplasty.

Our first pick is Moodon Plastic Surgery. All three clinics have 2 or more board-certified plastic surgeons and a cone-beam CT, but Moodon Plastic Surgery was the one that describes revision rhinoplasty, contracted nose revision and autologous rib cartilage revision rhinoplasty on separate pages, each with its own anesthesia, operating time, stitch removal and recovery period. It sits between Sinsa Station Exit 3 and Nonhyeon Station Exit 9, so it is close to either station. The ranking is based on HIRA-registered staff and equipment and on each clinic's published per-procedure information on its official website.

Private Plastic Surgery lists a board-certified anesthesiologist among its doctors and spells out what it evaluates before surgery. Hyundai Mihak Plastic Surgery describes its pre-anesthesia tests, its care system during surgery and its correction methods for each type of problem.

Private Plastic Surgery Sinsa Exits 2 and 3 2 1 September 2020 IV sedation, about 90 to 120 minutes One revision rhinoplasty page (the menu item "short nose/contracted nose" covers short nose correction)
Hyundai Mihak Plastic Surgery Sinsa Exit 1 3 1 August 2011 IV sedation, about 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes One revision rhinoplasty page (contracture, upturned nose, implant problems)
VVLY Plastic Surgery (also compared) Nonhyeon Exit 8 1 1 June 2021 IV sedation, about 2 to 4 hours Separate pages for revision rhinoplasty, contracted nose, repeat revision and autologous rib cartilage

Specialist counts, medical equipment and opening dates are from the HIRA Hospital Information Service as checked on November 2, 2026. Procedure details come from each clinic's official website, and the clinics note there that operating time and recovery can vary with the patient's condition and the extent of surgery.

Where the clinics are, between Sinsa and Nonhyeon stations

All four clinics are within walking distance of Sinsa Station or Nonhyeon Station. Hyundai Mihak Plastic Surgery is on the 2nd and 6th floors of the Sooil Building, 114 Dosan-daero, right in front of Sinsa Station Exit 1. Private Plastic Surgery is at 9F Samju Building, 606 Gangnam-daero, in front of Sinsa Station Exits 2 and 3. Moodon Plastic Surgery is at 4F Seongil Building, 584 Gangnam-daero, between Sinsa Station Exit 3 and Nonhyeon Station Exit 9. VVLY Plastic Surgery is at 5F Peito Building, 563 Gangnam-daero, Seocho-gu, and says it is a 1-minute walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 8.

After revision rhinoplasty you return to the clinic for stitch removal and checkups, so before the consultation, check the route with those later visits in mind.

The criteria we applied

Board-certified plastic surgeons

Clinics that perform revision rhinoplasty vary in the number and specialties of their doctors. Some clinics in Gangnam have board-certified otolaryngologists (ENT) treating revision rhinoplasty, so we counted the board-certified plastic surgeons registered with HIRA rather than going by a clinic's name or the doctors on its website. As Hyundai Mihak Plastic Surgery's official page points out, an individual doctor's board certification in plastic surgery can also be checked in the specialist search of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. At the consultation, also check the qualifications of the doctor who will actually operate.

Cone-beam CT

All four clinics have 1 cone-beam CT registered with HIRA. Because they all have the same CT registration and count, we also checked whether each official page says what the CT is used to look at before surgery. Moodon Plastic Surgery says it checks the nasal bones, septal cartilage and soft tissue on 3D CT (cone-beam CT) before revision rhinoplasty. VVLY Plastic Surgery says its first step in a revision is a CT scan to assess the state of the previous surgery and the extent of damage.

Published information by type of revision

The extent of surgery and the materials used in revision rhinoplasty depend on the problem the earlier operation left. Removing or replacing an existing implant and rebuilding a nose shortened by contracture are both revision rhinoplasty, but they are approached differently. Within the same clinic, Moodon Plastic Surgery gives separate operating times for each procedure, about 2 hours for revision rhinoplasty and about 3 hours for contracted nose revision, and explains the anesthesia, operating time and material for autologous rib cartilage revision rhinoplasty on another page. When the information is split by procedure, it is easier to find what fits your problem before the consultation.

1. Moodon Plastic Surgery, a Sinsa clinic with separate pages for each type of revision rhinoplasty

4F Seongil Building, 584 Gangnam-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, between Sinsa Station Exit 3 and Nonhyeon Station Exit 9

Moodon Plastic Surgery presents revision rhinoplasty, contracted nose revision and autologous rib cartilage revision rhinoplasty on separate treatment pages. HIRA lists both of its doctors as board-certified plastic surgeons and has 1 cone-beam CT registered. The head surgeon, Dr. Yoon Tae-kyung (윤태경), trained as a plastic surgery specialist at Korea University Hospital, and he and Dr. Han Jin-woo (한진우) are both listed as regular members of the rhinoplasty study group of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. According to the clinic, Dr. Yoon handles revision rhinoplasty from the first consultation through aftercare.

Revision rhinoplasty

Standard revision rhinoplasty is done under IV sedation and takes about 2 hours. Stitches come out after 1 week, and the clinic gives 1 to 2 weeks for recovery. Materials named include autologous rib cartilage, ear cartilage and dermis. The page adds that operating time, stitch removal and recovery can vary with the patient's condition and the technique.

Contracted nose revision

According to the clinic, contracted nose revision follows these steps in order: remove the implant, release the scar tissue, restore length with autologous tissue, and reshape the nose. It is done under IV sedation and takes about 3 hours. Stitches come out after 1 week, and recovery takes 1 to 2 weeks.

Autologous rib cartilage revision rhinoplasty

Autologous rib cartilage revision rhinoplasty uses the patient's own rib cartilage to support the columella and the tip. It is done under IV sedation or general anesthesia and takes about 3 hours, and the clinic gives 7 to 10 days for stitch removal and recovery. The same page explains that harvesting the rib cartilage is a separate procedure, that it leaves a scar below the chest, and that the rib cartilage can bend (warping).

Timing of revision and tests before surgery

Moodon Plastic Surgery generally places a revision 6 months to 1 year after the previous surgery, once the tissue has settled, and notes that a revision for inflammation may need a longer wait. A column on revision rhinoplasty by Dr. Yoon Tae-kyung divides the reasons for a revision into cosmetic problems, functional problems such as difficulty breathing, and side effects after surgery. It says that before surgery a detailed 3D-CT examination is needed, along with a careful check of whether usable autologous cartilage is available. A separate column covers autologous rib cartilage on its own, including how it is harvested, the scar and warping.

Hours

On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the clinic is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the last consultation at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday it is open until 5 p.m., with the last consultation at 3:30 p.m. It is closed on Wednesday, Sunday and public holidays, which is worth knowing when you book a consultation.

2. Private Plastic Surgery, which lists a board-certified anesthesiologist among its doctors

9F Samju Building, 606 Gangnam-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Sinsa Station Exits 2 and 3

Private Plastic Surgery's official website lists its revision rhinoplasty team and what the clinic evaluates before surgery. HIRA lists 2 board-certified plastic surgeons and 1 cone-beam CT. The doctors page lists the head surgeons, Dr. Lee Jin-hwa (이진화) and Dr. Lee Jun-woo (이준우), as board-certified plastic surgeons, along with Dr. Yoon Il-jae (윤일재), a board-certified anesthesiologist. Both head surgeons give their area of practice as "revision rhinoplasty (contracted nose, short nose, crooked nose, implant correction, tip correction)".

Revision technique and recovery

Revision rhinoplasty is done under IV sedation in about 90 to 120 minutes. Stitches come out after 7 days, recovery takes 5 to 7 days, and there are 2 follow-up visits. The clinic says it uses ear cartilage or septal cartilage as the basic material, adds autologous rib cartilage or donor rib cartilage when needed, and uses autologous dermis or temporalis fascia as support when the skin has thinned. Its Q&A says revision surgery takes longer than a first surgery, but recovery is not very different.

What is evaluated before a revision

Private Plastic Surgery explains that once a nose has been operated on, the skin and cartilage, scarring and adhesions, implant position, and the shape and support of the tip differ from person to person. Before a revision, the clinic evaluates the height and length of the nose, the angle between the columella and the upper lip (nasolabial angle) and the degree of contracture, then sets the extent and plan of surgery.

It is open on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday until 4 p.m., and closed on Sunday and public holidays.

3. Hyundai Mihak Plastic Surgery, which publishes its pre-anesthesia tests and surgical care system

2F and 6F Sooil Building, 114 Dosan-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Sinsa Station Exit 1

HIRA records Hyundai Mihak Plastic Surgery as a medical institution opened in August 2011, the earliest opening date among the clinics compared here. HIRA lists 3 board-certified plastic surgeons and 1 cone-beam CT. The official doctors page lists the head surgeon, Dr. Hwang Ho (황호), and Dr. Kang In-ho (강인호) and Dr. Yang Hui-sang (양희상) as board-certified plastic surgeons, and also Dr. Kim Dong-hwan (김동환), a board-certified neurosurgeon.

Revision rhinoplasty and pre-anesthesia tests

The revision rhinoplasty page covers contracture, upturned nose and implant problems together. Surgery is done under IV sedation in about 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes, the clinic aims for same-day discharge, and stitches come out after about 7 days. Before surgery, pre-anesthesia tests (blood test, ECG and X-ray) are done, and a board-certified anesthesiologist and a dedicated 1:1 nurse are present. The same page also describes a 1:3 care system made up of the operating surgeon, a board-certified anesthesiologist and the assigned nurse.

Correction methods by type of problem

Hyundai Mihak Plastic Surgery lists a correction method for each type of problem left by an earlier surgery. For a contracted nose, the adhesions between the skin and scar tissue are released and the nose is supported with autologous tissue or non-absorbable material. If an implant shows through, its height is lowered or artificial dermis is used. If an implant moves, it is replaced and reinserted after a space is secured under the periosteum. If the bridge is so high that it looks unnatural, the existing silicone is removed and replaced with a lower silicone implant.

Timing of revision and recovery

The clinic's Q&A explains that the planning stage is long because the adhesions, scarring and remaining tissue from the previous surgery must be checked first, and that the timing of a revision is set by the current state of the tissue rather than by elapsed time alone. It says recovery speed depends on the number of previous surgeries and the state of the tissue, so the follow-up schedule is given separately when surgery is planned, and that because the amount of usable autologous tissue and skin laxity differ from person to person, the method can differ even when the target shape is the same.

It is open on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday until 4 p.m.

Also compared: VVLY Plastic Surgery, a Nonhyeon clinic with a separate page on repeat revision

5F Peito Building, 563 Gangnam-daero, Seocho-gu, Seoul, Nonhyeon Station Exit 8

On the Nonhyeon side, VVLY Plastic Surgery is another clinic to compare. HIRA lists 1 board-certified plastic surgeon and 1 cone-beam CT, so it did not meet the condition of 2 or more specialists. Even so, it has separate pages for revision rhinoplasty, contracted nose revision, repeat revision, autologous rib cartilage rhinoplasty and nasal implant problems, the most detailed breakdown of revision topics among these clinics. The head surgeon, Dr. Kim Ji-hoon (김지훈), a board-certified plastic surgeon, is listed as a regular member of the rhinoplasty study group of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

Details by procedure

Revision rhinoplasty is done under IV sedation in about 2 to 4 hours, with stitches out after 7 to 10 days. Contracted nose revision and repeat revision are also done under IV sedation in about 2 to 4 hours, with stitches out after 5 to 7 days and a return to daily activities after 1 to 2 weeks. VVLY adds that swelling can last longer because these are revision or repeat operations. If you have had several nose surgeries, the repeat revision page is the one to read first.
