We compared the number of board-certified plastic surgeons registered with the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA, 건강보험심사평가원), cone-beam CT registration, and each clinic's official information on revision rhinoplasty and contracted nose revision as of November 2, 2026.

Board-certified plastic surgeons
Clinics that perform revision rhinoplasty do not all have doctors from the same specialty. A search for revision rhinoplasty in Gangnam turns up clinics run by board-certified plastic surgeons and also clinics run by board-certified otolaryngologists (ENT).
A clinic's name or procedure pages do not always make the doctors' specialty clear, so we counted board-certified specialists by specialty as registered with HIRA. Where the number of doctors on a clinic's website differed from the HIRA figure, we noted both.
A headcount of specialists tells you nothing about an individual surgeon's experience. At the consultation, ask who will operate and check that doctor's board certification and main areas of practice.
Cone-beam CT
Before revision rhinoplasty, the surgeon needs to see how the earlier operation changed the structure of the nose and what state it is in now. Moodon Plastic Surgery says it uses a cone-beam CT (3D CT) before revision rhinoplasty to check the nasal bones, septal cartilage and soft tissue. Pleasure Plastic Surgery and Onyx Plastic Surgery also describe CT-based diagnosis on their official websites.
All 10 clinics we surveyed had 1 cone-beam CT registered with HIRA. Owning the equipment did not separate one clinic from another, so we also compared what each clinic says it checks on CT before surgery.
Published information by type of revision
What needs correcting depends on what went wrong in the earlier surgery. Fixing a silicone implant that shows through or has shifted is a different operation from rebuilding a nose that has shortened from contracture. The clinics' own pages also show that the choice of material, such as autologous rib cartilage, ear cartilage or septal cartilage, depends on the scar tissue, the remaining cartilage and the skin.

HIRA lists both of its doctors as board-certified plastic surgeons and has 1 cone-beam CT registered (checked November 2, 2026). Records checked on October 26, 2026 also show 1 operating room and 2 recovery rooms.
The head surgeon, Dr. Yoon Tae-kyung (윤태경), trained as a plastic surgery specialist at Korea University Hospital and completed a plastic surgery fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center in the United States. Dr. Yoon and Dr. Han Jin-woo (한진우) are both listed as regular members of the rhinoplasty study group of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. The clinic's website says Dr. Yoon handles revision rhinoplasty from the first consultation through aftercare.
Revision rhinoplasty
Moodon Plastic Surgery's revision rhinoplasty page lists what it corrects: inflammation and contracture after a previous surgery, an implant that shows through or moves, a crooked bridge, and nasal blockage. Before surgery, the clinic uses 3D CT to check the nasal bones, septal cartilage and soft tissue. Materials named include autologous rib cartilage, ear cartilage and dermis.
It is done under IV sedation and takes about 2 hours. Stitches come out after 1 week and recovery takes 1 to 2 weeks. According to the clinic, a revision is generally done 6 months to 1 year after the previous surgery, and a revision for inflammation may need a longer wait.
Contracted nose revision
Contracted nose revision is for a nose that has turned red or hard, with the tip pulled up, after an inflammatory reaction, an implant or changes in the capsule around it. Its official page describes the steps in order: remove the existing implant, release the scar tissue, place autologous tissue to restore length, and reshape the nose.
The autologous tissues listed are ear cartilage, septal cartilage, rib cartilage, autologous dermis and mastoid fascia. Surgery is done under IV sedation and takes about 3 hours. Stitches come out after 1 week and recovery takes 1 to 2 weeks.
Autologous rib cartilage revision rhinoplasty
Autologous rib cartilage revision rhinoplasty uses the patient's own rib cartilage to support the columella and the tip. Moodon Plastic Surgery does it under IV sedation or general anesthesia in about 3 hours, and lists about 7 to 10 days for stitch removal and recovery.
Moodon's page also explains that harvesting the rib cartilage is a separate procedure, that it leaves a scar below the chest, and that the cartilage can bend over time (warping).

Revision rhinoplasty and implant removal

HIRA records it as a medical institution opened on June 24, 2026, with 1 board-certified plastic surgeon and 1 cone-beam CT registered. The official website says the head surgeon, Dr. Yoo Geon-un (유건운), a board-certified plastic surgeon, treats patients together with a board-certified anesthesiologist.
Revision technique and anesthesia
Onyx Plastic Surgery explains that, depending on the cause, it replaces or removes the existing implant and, where needed, rebuilds the support of the nasal tip with autologous tissue such as autologous rib cartilage, ear cartilage or dermis. Anesthesia is IV sedation or general anesthesia.
Onyx says operating time depends on whether the old implant is removed, how much scar tissue there is and whether autologous rib cartilage is used, so it tells each patient how long surgery will take after CT diagnosis and consultation. The website's Q&A says most incisions are made inside the nostrils or as a small cut on the columella, and that major swelling and bruising usually settle over 1 to 2 weeks.
