Gangnam Under-Eye Revision: 5 Clinics Compared (Nov 2026)

After under-eye fat repositioning (눈밑지방재배치) or lower blepharoplasty (하안검), the fat can bulge again, the area under the eye can look hollow instead, or the lower eyelid can feel pulled down or turn outward. In these cases, start with clinics that describe revision surgery on its own. Opening Plastic Surgery explains how it corrects fat that has bulged again and an area that has become hollow. QA Plastic Surgery and Li-Eye Plastic Surgery also cover a lower eyelid that has turned outward or is pulled down, with a correction method for each.

We checked the websites of plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam-gu and Seocho-gu and chose 5 that describe under-eye revision on a separate treatment page. We then compared how specifically each one describes the types of revision and the correction methods, what it says about anesthesia and recovery, and what HIRA lists for its specialists and equipment.

Each of the 5 clinics has 1 board-certified plastic surgeon registered with HIRA. QA Plastic Surgery publishes the causes of revision, a correction method for each type, operating time and recovery period in text. Li-Eye Plastic Surgery describes the methods it uses to revise ectropion (an outward-turning lower eyelid) and lower eyelid retraction: orbicularis oculi muscle fixation, lateral canthal fixation, lateral canthoplasty and dermis-fat grafting. Opening Plastic Surgery, close to Sinsa Station Exit 3, gives anesthesia, operating time, stitch removal and recovery period for under-eye revision. Eyetop Plastic Surgery has separate pages for fat repositioning revision and lower blepharoplasty revision. XO Plastic Surgery is the only one of the 5 with a cone-beam CT (CBCT) registered with HIRA, with 1 unit.

Five Gangnam clinics for under-eye revision compared

Specialist counts and cone-beam CT are from the HIRA Hospital Information Service as checked on November 3, 2026. Procedure details are the text on each clinic's official website on the same day. QA Plastic Surgery's figures come from a page that covers upper and lower blepharoplasty revision together.

When under-eye revision becomes necessary

The fat bulges again

Opening Plastic Surgery says that when under-eye fat was removed at another clinic, looked better for a while and then got worse again, the fat has pushed out again because the septum was not reinforced. Opening corrects this by repositioning the fat and reinforcing the orbital septum. Li-Eye Plastic Surgery also lists sagging and bulging that remain after under-eye surgery as a reason for revision.

The area looks hollow instead

Opening Plastic Surgery explains that removing too much under-eye fat can leave the area hollow and darker, and that it fills this in with cell-level fat grafting (세포단위지방이식). For eyes that look more tired than before surgery, QA Plastic Surgery gives the causes as fat that was not removed properly or too little support under the eye, and says it restores volume and structure.

The lower eyelid turns outward or is pulled down

Limo Plastic Surgery (리모성형외과) describes ectropion, the side effect of lower blepharoplasty that patients worry about most, as the lower eyelid turning outward after too much skin is removed, so that the red inner lining shows. QA Plastic Surgery says it corrects ectropion by adjusting the stretched tissue and strengthening the structures that support the eyelid. Li-Eye Plastic Surgery covers ectropion and lower eyelid retraction as their own revision types. QA Plastic Surgery also lists asymmetry, where the two under-eye areas have come to look different, and an unnatural look after too much skin was removed.

If you want correction methods by type of revision, operating time and recovery on one page, QA Plastic Surgery is a useful reference. Its upper and lower blepharoplasty revision page lists the main concerns behind lower blepharoplasty revision: an under-eye area that looks hollow and more tired, left and right asymmetry, a pulled eyelid or ectropion, and an unnatural look after too much skin was removed. Each type has its own correction approach. The clinic says it uses the existing incision or places a new one where it will not be noticed.

Revision method and recovery period

The official website gives these details for upper and lower blepharoplasty revision:

• Anesthesia: local anesthesia or IV sedation
• Operating time: 1 to 2 hours
• Stitch removal: 5 to 7 days after surgery
• Recovery period: 1 to 2 weeks, no hospital stay needed

The Q&A adds that it varies from person to person, but most people can return to daily life in about 2 weeks. These figures cover upper and lower blepharoplasty revision together, and the same page groups both under eye revision for middle-aged patients (중년눈재수술).

Timing and doctors

QA Plastic Surgery generally recommends waiting about 3 to 6 months after the first surgery to watch how it settles before a revision, and says the exact timing is set by diagnosis. HIRA lists it as opened in September 2025 with 1 board-certified plastic surgeon. Its official doctors page lists the head surgeon, Dr. Wang Jae-kwon (왕재권), as a former board-certified plastic surgeon at Seoul National University Hospital. QA Plastic Surgery is a 12-minute walk from Apgujeong Station Exit 3 and a 13-minute walk from Hakdong Station Exit 8.

2. Li-Eye Plastic Surgery, with correction methods for ectropion and lower eyelid retraction

If your lower eyelid has turned outward or been pulled down after lower blepharoplasty, Li-Eye Plastic Surgery is worth a look. Its under-eye revision page names three reasons for revision: the under-eye area still bulges, the lower eyelid has turned outward, or dry eye has become much worse.

Revision that strengthens eyelid support

Li-Eye Plastic Surgery says that, depending on the patient's condition, it performs orbicularis oculi muscle fixation together with lateral canthal fixation. When retraction is severe, it uses lateral canthoplasty or dermis-fat grafting instead of lateral canthal fixation. Li-Eye also explains that each revision weakens the support of the lower eyelid and makes contracture of the membrane around the fat worse, so it operates with the aim of preventing a recurrence.

Difficulty of lower eyelid retraction revision

The clinic states that revision to correct lower eyelid retraction is very difficult because the chance of recurrence is high, and that it takes care not to injure the orbicularis oculi muscle and nerves during surgery. Operating time, anesthesia, stitch removal and recovery are not given on the page.

Doctors and location

The head surgeon, Dr. Jeon Hyo-jin (전효진), is introduced as performing both first and revision procedures for the eyes and for lifting. Past posts listed are BIO Plastic Surgery and DA Plastic Surgery, and the greeting on the website names the head surgeon as a board-certified plastic surgeon. HIRA lists the clinic as opened in July 2023 with 1 board-certified plastic surgeon. It is in front of Sinsa Station Exit 2 and an 8-minute walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 9.

3. Opening Plastic Surgery, with anesthesia and recovery schedule for under-eye revision

To compare first-surgery and revision information within one clinic, look at Opening Plastic Surgery. Opening divides its under-eye care into seven treatments: dark circles, under-eye fat repositioning (3RT), cell-level fat grafting, lower blepharoplasty, Lower blepharoplasty Plus+ (lower blepharoplasty with a midface lift), midface fat grafting and under-eye revision.

Under-eye revision method and recovery

Under-eye revision is done under local anesthesia or IV sedation and takes under 1 hour. Stitches come out after 5 to 7 days and recovery takes about 1 week. No hospital stay is needed, and there are 1 to 2 follow-up visits. Opening notes that these figures can differ with the patient's condition and the surgical method. It says it analyzes the problems from the first surgery from several angles, and it presents the types and methods of revision as images.

Fat that bulges again, and hollowing

Opening's under-eye fat repositioning Q&A distinguishes two problems: hollowing after too much fat was removed, and bulging that returned because the septum was not reinforced. Hollowing is filled in with cell-level fat grafting. Fat that came out again is corrected with 3RT, which repositions the fat and reinforces the orbital septum.

Clinic records

HIRA lists the clinic as opened in August 2025 with 1 board-certified plastic surgeon, no cone-beam CT and 1 hyperbaric oxygen therapy unit.

4. Eyetop Plastic Surgery, with separate pages for fat repositioning revision and lower blepharoplasty revision

Of the 5 clinics, Eyetop Plastic Surgery is the only one with separate pages for under-eye fat repositioning revision and lower blepharoplasty revision. Fat repositioning revision is under the under-eye surgery menu, and lower blepharoplasty revision is under the eye revision menu. Both pages present their content as images. Eyetop also has separate pages for the first surgeries (under-eye fat repositioning, lower blepharoplasty and lifting lower blepharoplasty), so you can read first-surgery and revision information side by side at one clinic. HIRA lists it as opened in December 2020 with 1 board-certified plastic surgeon, which makes it the earliest of the 5 to open.

5. XO Plastic Surgery, the Dosan-daero clinic with a registered cone-beam CT

XO Plastic Surgery is the only one of the 5 clinics with a cone-beam CT registered with HIRA. HIRA lists it as opened in April 2024 with 1 board-certified plastic surgeon, at 119 Dosan-daero, Sinsa-dong. Under its eye revision menu it has a page titled "Under-eye/lower blepharoplasty revision" (눈밑/하안검재수술), and the content is presented as images.

Which clinic publishes what, by type of revision

Timing of revision and examination

QA Plastic Surgery generally recommends waiting 3 to 6 months after the first surgery before a revision. Opening Plastic Surgery gives no number of months. It says it is best to understand your own problem after the first surgery and then have the revision done by a specialist with a lot of experience in under-eye revision. Doyjun Plastic Surgery (도이준성형외과) has no dedicated under-eye revision page, but its eye revision Q&A says patients can be examined for under-eye fat repositioning revision and lower blepharoplasty revision, and that whether a revision is possible is decided after an examination of the previous surgery and the current condition.

What to sort out before a revision consultation

Taken together, the clinics' information points to four things to sort out before a consultation.

• The type of previous surgery: under-eye fat repositioning through the conjunctiva, or lower blepharoplasty with a skin incision
• The current problem: fat that bulges again, hollowing, an eyelid that has turned outward or is pulled down, or a difference between left and right. The clinics above describe different methods for these types, such as septum reinforcement, fat grafting, and lateral canthal fixation or canthoplasty.
• Time since the first surgery: the date of the first surgery and when the symptoms appeared
• Whether to correct the upper and lower eyelids together: IMK Plastic Surgery (아이엠케이성형외과) has no dedicated under-eye revision page, but its Q&A says upper and lower blepharoplasty revision can be done at the same time. The same clinic's middle-age eye revision page focuses on the upper eyelid, and its table gives local anesthesia or IV sedation, about 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes, stitch removal after 7 days and recovery of 2 to 4 weeks.

An eye revision menu is different from under-eye revision information

A clinic with an "eye revision" menu may not cover under-eye revision at all. Among the clinics we checked, the eye revision page of Banobagi Plastic Surgery (바노바기성형외과) lists six types, all of them about the double eyelid line. At Eyefit Plastic Surgery (아이핏성형외과), all 12 submenus under the eye revision menu deal with the upper eyelid and canthoplasty. The revision menus at Hyundai Mihak Plastic Surgery (현대미학성형외과) and Siseon Plastic Surgery (시선성형외과) also cover double eyelids and canthoplasty, and Doyjun Plastic Surgery says its eye revision cases are mainly upper eyelid line problems. If you are looking for under-eye revision, check whether the page itself covers the lower eyelid and under-eye fat. That is more reliable than the menu name.

Clinics without a dedicated page

Within what we checked, Newday (뉴데이), Limo, Private (프라이빗), Hyundai Mihak, Banobagi and View Plastic Surgery (뷰성형외과), among others, did not describe under-eye revision on a separate page. A clinic without a dedicated page may still treat revisions, and some, such as Doyjun Plastic Surgery, say in their Q&A that they can examine patients for it. We checked the HIRA lists of plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam-gu and Seocho-gu that have a registered website address, along with clinics ranking high in search results. Some websites that would not load or whose menus could not be read are not included.

If you have not had under-eye surgery yet

If you have not had your first surgery yet, ask how the clinic handles, in that first operation, the issues the clinics above name as causes of revision. Opening Plastic Surgery said fat can push out again if the septum is not reinforced, and Limo Plastic Surgery named excessive skin removal as a cause of ectropion.

If you want your first surgery at a clinic with 2 HIRA-registered board-certified plastic surgeons and 1 cone-beam CT (checked November 2, 2026) that publishes septum reinforcement for under-eye fat repositioning and lateral canthal fixation for lower blepharoplasty as part of its methods, Moodon Plastic Surgery's information is a good place to start. Moodon Plastic Surgery (무드온성형외과) says septum reinforcement is a standard part of its under-eye fat repositioning, and that it fixes the fat from the inside with a double-armed absorbable suture needle (PGCL or PGA). For lower blepharoplasty, it fixes the muscle to the periosteum on the inner side of the lateral canthus so that the lower eyelid does not pull away from the eye. It describes under-eye fat repositioning and lower blepharoplasty on separate treatment pages, each with its own anesthesia, operating time and stitch care.

Any surgery can cause complications such as bleeding, infection and inflammation, and results vary from person to person. Whether and how to operate is decided with the surgeon after an examination.
